Hajj unfolds over roughly five days, from the 8th to the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah. Each day has its own rites, and performing them in the right order is what makes your Hajj valid. Here is the journey, step by step, the way Raahi's scholars walk you through it.

8th (Yawm al-Tarwiyah): you enter Ihram for Hajj and travel to Mina, where you spend the day and night in prayer. 9th (Yawm al-Arafah): the pinnacle of Hajj — you stand at Arafat from midday until sunset in du'a (Wuquf), then move to Muzdalifah, where you pray and spend the night under the open sky, gathering pebbles for the next day.

10th (Yawm al-Nahr): you return towards Mina for the Rami of Jamrat al-Aqabah (stoning), offer your Qurbani, shave or trim your hair to exit Ihram, and perform Tawaf al-Ifadah at the Kaaba. 11th–13th (Ayyam al-Tashreeq): you stay in Mina and stone all three Jamarat each day. Before leaving Makkah, every pilgrim performs Tawaf al-Wida, the farewell circuit of the Kaaba.

The days of Hajj in order
  • 8th — Mina: enter Ihram and spend the day and night in worship
  • 9th — Arafat: Wuquf (standing) until sunset, then Muzdalifah overnight
  • 10th — Mina: Rami of Jamrat al-Aqabah, Qurbani, then exit Ihram
  • 10th — Makkah: Tawaf al-Ifadah at the Kaaba
  • 11th–13th — Mina: stone all three Jamarat each day (Tashreeq)
  • Before departure — Tawaf al-Wida, the farewell Tawaf

Frequently asked questions

What happens on the day of Arafat?
The 9th of Dhul-Hijjah is the most important day of Hajj. Pilgrims stand at Arafat (Wuquf) from midday until sunset, deep in du'a and repentance. Missing the standing at Arafat means the Hajj is not valid, so your group stays together under scholar guidance throughout.
What is the difference between Tawaf al-Ifadah and Tawaf al-Wida?
Tawaf al-Ifadah is a required pillar of Hajj, performed after returning from Muzdalifah, usually on the 10th. Tawaf al-Wida is the farewell Tawaf every pilgrim performs as the last act before leaving Makkah. Our scholars guide you on the timing of both.
